Ms. Susan VanBeuge is a lecturer and clinical instructor. She teaches online courses in the family nurse practitioner program and serves as an instructor to students in the clinical setting. She also teaches in the undergraduate program and works with graduate students as a member of capstone committees during their studies.
Ms. VanBeuge’s research interest is in the area of oncology. She’s given presentations on the education of the primary care providers on cancer screening in breast, colon and skin cancer. Ms. VanBeuge has presented at the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners for many years on topics of breast cancer, irritable bowel syndrome and malignant melanoma.
Ms. VanBeuge was a reviewer for the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Journal. She is a current member of Sigma Theta Tau, Oncology Nurses Society, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and a past member of the American College of Surgeons. She serves as a member of the UNLV School of Nursing Student Affairs Council and the Nevada Board of Nursing Advance Practice Advisory Committee. Ms. VanBeuge works with the SON Alumni Association to bridge the gap between the alumni association community board members and the SON. Additionally, Ms. VanBeuge actively works with other nurse practitioner faculty on building community relations with agencies for student placement in preceptor programs throughout Nevada.
