Welcome to UNLV's PhD in Nursing Program. The PhD in Nursing Program at UNLV was established in 2004 and enrolled the first cohort of 5 students in 2005. This is the first PhD in Nursing Program in Nevada. UNLV PhD Program prepares students to become leaders, researchers/scholars, and educators. Currently, there are two options within the PhD in Nursing Program: “Nursing Education” and “Urban Sustainability: Health”. "Nursing Education" option has been in place since 2004 and covers both nursing education in academic settings and nursing education/training in clinical settings (staff development, patient education, etc). “Urban Sustainability: Health” option will enroll its first cohort of students in the fall of 2010. Please refer to the posted PhD Student Handbook for complete information on the PhD Program, including the two different options and curricula.
One of the unique features of our program is that it is completely online, which is found convenient by our students from across the country. However, students are required to be on campus each fall semester for several days during the week prior to the beginning of fall semester classes. In addition, students can enroll in either part-time or full-time study.
I do encourage you to explore the website so that you can make an informed decision.
Thank you for your interest in our PhD in Nursing Program. Please feel free to either contact Raychell Hines (graduate secretary) or myself if you still have questions after reviewing the program information at this site. I am looking forward to working with you to achieve your professional and personal career goals!
Sincerely,
